The 2026 Kia K4 lineup gives Quebec shoppers two very different shapes built on the same platform. The K4 sedan keeps the classic three-box silhouette and a sloping fastback roofline. The 2026 K4 Hatchback takes that same platform, shortens the body, and replaces the trunk with a lift-up rear door and dramatically more cargo room. For Laval drivers choosing between them, the decision is...
Shopping for a compact SUV? The 2026 Kia Sportage has been updated with fresh styling, new electrified options, and a full suite of tech and safety features.
What's New for 2026?
The 2026 Sportage receives a mid-cycle refresh with updated exterior styling, new electrified trims, and enhanced technology. The front end now features vertical star-map LED daytime running lights and a three-dimensional radiator grille that gives the Sportage a bolder, more modern look. Inside, the 12.3-inch infotainment system is now standard across all trims and includes over-the-air software updates through Kia Connect.
Two new electrified trims join the lineup: the EX Premium Hybrid and the EX PHEV. These additions give buyers more options if they're looking to reduce fuel costs or qualify for federal EV incentives. The refresh also brings a new head-up display, updated wheel designs, and a revised interior colour palette.
What Powertrains Are Available?
The 2026 Sportage offers three powertrain options:
Gasoline (LX, EX, EX Premium, X-Line, X-Line Limited):
The base 2.5L four-cylinder engine produces 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's available in front-wheel drive on the LX trim and all-wheel drive on all other trims.
Hybrid (EX HEV, EX Premium HEV, SX HEV):
The hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre turbo engine with an electric motor, delivering combined power through a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid is AWD-only. Cargo space remains generous at 1,036 litres behind the second row with the cargo floor raised, or 1,119 litres with the floor lowered.
Plug-In Hybrid (EX PHEV, EX Premium PHEV, SX PHEV):
The PHEV uses the same 1.6-litre turbo engine but pairs it with a more powerful motor and a battery pack. The PHEV is AWD-only with a six-speed automatic. Cargo space is slightly reduced to 977 litres behind the second row due to the larger battery pack.

How Much Can the Sportage Tow?
The Sportage can tow up to 2,000 lb (907 kg) when properly equipped. This is enough for a small utility trailer, a pair of ATVs, or a lightweight camper. The LX trim includes trailer package pre-wiring, and models come with Trailer Stability Assist to help keep your load steady on the highway.
What Safety Features Are Standard?
Every 2026 Sportage includes Kia's driver assistance systems. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 covers automatic emergency braking for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Lane Following Assist 2 and Lane Keeping Assist work together to help you stay centred in your lane on the highway. Smart Cruise Control 2 with Stop & Go maintains your set speed and distance from the car ahead, even in stop-and-go traffic.
Additional safety features include eight airbags, Parking Distance Warning (front and rear), a rear-view camera with dynamic parking guidelines, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, and Trailer Stability Assist. The Sportage also includes Rear Occupant Alert to help prevent accidentally leaving passengers or pets in the back seat.
What's the Difference Between the Trims?

LX (Starting at $31,995):
The base trim includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, the 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect with over-the-air updates. The LX is available in FWD or AWD.
EX:
The EX adds 18-inch wheels, a power driver's seat with lumbar support, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and an upgraded audio system. It's AWD-only in the gasoline model and available as a Hybrid or PHEV.
EX Premium:
The EX Premium includes a panoramic sunroof, power-folding mirrors, LED fog lights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a driver's seat memory function. It's available in gasoline, Hybrid, and PHEV configurations.
X-Line and X-Line Limited:
The X-Line trims feature 19-inch wheels, unique exterior styling with black accents, and a more rugged appearance. The X-Line Limited adds premium interior materials and additional convenience features. Both are gasoline-only and AWD.
How Much Cargo Space Does It Have?
Cargo capacity varies slightly by powertrain. Gasoline and Hybrid models offer 1,036 litres behind the second row with the cargo floor raised, or 1,121 litres with the floor lowered. The PHEV offers 977 litres behind the second row due to the larger battery pack. With the second row folded, gasoline and Hybrid models provide up to 2,098 litres of total cargo space.
The Sportage also includes a dual-level cargo floor (standard on Hybrid, not available on PHEV) that lets you adjust the floor height to accommodate taller items or create a hidden storage compartment.
What Technology Features Are Included?
The 12.3-inch touchscreen is now standard across all trims and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, HD Radio, and SiriusXM. Kia Connect with over-the-air updates lets the Sportage receive software updates automatically, including powertrain and infotainment improvements.
Available features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, Surround View Monitor (which provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle), and Digital Key (which lets you unlock and start the vehicle using your smartphone).
How Does the Plug-In Hybrid Work?
The PHEV uses a battery pack that can be charged at home using a standard 120V outlet or a Level 2 charger. You can select between three drive modes: EV mode (electric-only), HEV mode (combined gasoline and electric), or Auto mode (which switches automatically for optimal efficiency). The PHEV is eligible for federal and provincial EV incentives, which can reduce the purchase price significantly.
What's the Warranty Coverage?
The 2026 Sportage is covered by Kia's comprehensive warranty package: five years or 100,000 km comprehensive coverage, five years or unlimited kilometres roadside assistance, and five years or 100,000 km powertrain coverage. The Hybrid and PHEV battery packs are covered for eight years or 160,000 km.
